UGAFMA Chairman's Update

Good afternoon members,

This afternoon, we held a Virtual Meeting to Discuss Issues Pertaining to the Competitiveness of the Animal Feeds Industry (Thursday, 21st November 2024).

Animal production is a cornerstone for agro-industrial development under the government’s Ten-Fold Growth Strategy, driving import replacement and export of animal protein products.

However, the animal feed industry, the foundation of animal production, faces critical challenges, including seasonal feed shortages that disrupt production and the formal economy.

To ensure stability and competitiveness in this sector, we need mechanisms that prioritize:

As Chairman of UGAFMA, I thank the Government of Uganda for ongoing efforts to develop our industry. Welcoming foreign investment is vital, but Ugandans must remain at the center of this development. During my engagement with Parliament on fine-tuning the Animal Feeds Bill 2023, I emphasized these critical points.

Together, let’s build a resilient and competitive animal feeds industry that drives sustainable economic growth!
